TRAVEL TIPS

VISA & PASSPORTS

A valid visa and passport are two essential travel documents every traveler on Uganda or Rwanda safari should have. It is lawful and in accordance with national immigration laws, formalities and guideline that anyone intending to enter into Uganda and Rwanda should be a valid visa and passport. Foreign nationals who plan to visit Uganda or Rwanda for employment reasons should abide by the set requirements for expatriate employment in Rwanda and Uganda.
Note: All visa prone nationalities must secure Uganda and Rwanda visas that will allow them enter into the country

Uganda and Rwanda visas can be obtained at Uganda and Rwanda missions/embassy in your respective country of origin or upon arrival at the ports/airports.
All visitors to Uganda and Rwanda should have a valid yellow fever immunization card.

UGANDA & RWANDA VISAS

Visa requirements for Uganda and Rwanda
Travelers can obtain visas at the entry points of Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania. You are advised to secure your visa early enough regardless of them being available at airport. However, you can now obtain your visa upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport or Kigali International Airport. Visas can be obtained at a cost whether you do it earlier or upon arrival at Entebbe airport or Kigali airport. You will be required to present a yellow fever immunization card/certificate and you should have completed filling the application form online and also upload your current photo. Visitors to East African states need valid passport-valid at least 6 months and beyond the end of their period of stay and should also feature sufficient blank pages for visas and immigration stamps.

Please note that nationals of Germany, Sweden, UK, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Mauritius, Hong Kong, South Africa and Canada who may prefer to stay for period of about 90 days may not need visas to get to Rwanda. However, other nationals need to secure valid visa to Rwanda and each visa goes at $35.
Nationals/citizens from commonwealth states do not need visas to get to Tanzania unless they are nationals of Nigeria, India, United Kingdom and Canada.

PASSPORTS

Travelers to Uganda and Rwanda require a valid passport-valid for about 6 months. You may be denied entry if you do not have adequate fund, return or onward tickets as well as other basic travel documents.

Note: Residents of Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya can travel to any of the 3 states without visas. Also, visas don’t allow gainful or voluntary employment in Uganda.

For entry into or exit from Uganda or Rwanda should be done only via gazetted entry/exit points/ports.
