RWANDA & UGANDA COMBO SAFARI HIGHLIGHTS & DETAILED ITINERARY

  • Day 1: Drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park

    Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, get a warm welcome from one of our experienced driver guides who will brief you shortly on what your 15 days Uganda Rwanda grand tour is all about. After, you will embark on Kigali city tour and later, drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park which is about 4 to 6 hours’ drive. 

  • Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and canopy walk in Nyungwe Forest National Park

    After an early morning breakfast, join other visitors at Chanika reception center-Nyungwe National Park for briefing (at around 7:00am) on the set rules and regulations that you have to observe while on chimpanzee trek. After, hit the jungles with park ranger guide who will take you through your primate adventure. Upon finding chimpanzees, you have an hour of a face to face encounter with them, take as many photos as possible and explore more about their behaviors and body gestures. This also gets you the best sights at varied primate species including the black and white colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, red colobus monkeys, olive baboons, Angolan monkeys, vervet monkeys a mention but a few plus several bird species that make up a total of 310 in Nyungwe Forest National Park. After, return to the lodge to have lunch and rest then you have an afternoon canopy walk which takes you along the 50 meters’ suspended trail. This gets you the best sights at varied primate species, trees and plants among others. Later, return to the lodge to have rest, dinner and overnight 

  • Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

    Have breakfast early in the morning and after, head off to Volcanoes National Park which is set northwestern Rwanda. This will take you about 6 to 7 hours to drive from Nyungwe Forest National Park to Volcanoes National Park a home to a section of mountain gorillas that today still thrive in the world.

  • Day 4: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park

    After an early morning breakfast at your respective safari lodge, gather at Volcanoes National Park headquarters at Kinigi where you will be briefed about on the set rules and regulations that you have to follow while on gorilla trekking in the lush rainforest of Volcanoes National Park. Make sure that you have some packed lunch or energy giving snacks and bottled water plus the right gear for gorilla trekking. You will be allocated to 1 habituated gorilla family to track in a group of 8 visitors and be accompanied by 1 park ranger guide. Later, hit the jungles to search for a group of habituated mountain gorillas. Gorilla trek may take you approximately 2 to 5 hours and this comes with an hour of a face to face encounter, photography. After magical encounter, return to the lodge to have rest and in the evening; embark on a community walk in the Iby’Iwacu cultural village for cultural exploration, dances and music performances among others. 

  • Day 5: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

    After an early morning breakfast, embark on road trip to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park which is situated in southwestern Uganda. You will spend about 3 to 4 hours to drive from Volcanoes National Park to Bwindi National Park. Drive through Cyanika border area. 

  • Day 6: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

    The 15 days Uganda Rwanda grand tour starts with a delicious breakfast at your respective lodge and after, you join other visitors on briefing about the set rules and regulations for gorilla trekking. Briefing starts at around 7: 30 am at any of the 4 main trailheads (Buhoma, Ruhija, Nkuringo and Rushaga) in Bwindi National Park. You will be assigned to 1 habituated gorilla group to track in a group of 8 visitors. The trek may last you about 2 to 8 hours but trackers are always sent to the field to ascertain where these creatures thus making it easier for you to find them and fewer hours of trek. This also covers the 1 hour of face to face encounter with the gorillas, take as many photos as possible, explore their behaviors and body gestures. After the 1 hour of face to face encounter, return to the lodge to have a rest and if time allows, embark on a community walk to Batwa community. 

  • Day 7: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park

    After an early morning breakfast, check out from your respective safari lodge ready to embark on a road trip to Queen Elizabeth National Park which is set in western Uganda. This park is a home to 4 of the big 5 game-the African elephants, leopards, lions, buffaloes as well as several antelope families, over 620 bird species among others. Arrive early enough and check in at the lodge.

  • Day 8: Game viewing in the morning along Kasenyi sector and boat cruise in the afternoon along Kazinga channel-Queen Elizabeth National Park.

    Have breakfast early in the morning and after, embark on a morning game drive through Kasenyi track. Wildlife species to expect to sight along Kasenyi track include the African elephants, buffaloes, leopards, lions, antelopes, birds among others. Game drive along this track takes you 2 to 3 hours and comes with magical encounters of distinct savanna wildlife species and breathtaking landscape. Return to have enjoyable lunch at your respective lodge and in the afternoon, you have a boat cruise along Kazinga channel which gets you the best sights at aquatic species such as hippos, crocodiles, water birds as well as buffaloes and elephants as they roam around the banks. After your 2 to 3 hours’ exciting water sport, return to the lodge to have rest, dinner and overnight 

  • Day 9: Game viewing in the morning and drive to Kibale National Park

    Early in the morning, have breakfast and after set off to the northern bank-Kasenyi track of Queen Elizabeth National Park. This gets you sights at wildlife species that you missed to see the previous day including buffaloes, elephants, birds, antelopes and many others. After, return to have lunch and then check out from the lodge ready to embark on a road trip to Kibale Forest National Park which is 3 to 4 hours’ drive. 

  • Day 10: Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale National Park and Bigodi wetland walk

    After an early morning breakfast at your respective lodge, join other visitors at Kanyanchu visitor center for briefing on the set rules and regulations. The briefing usually starts around 7:00 am and the actual chimp trek starts at 8:00 am. You will be grouped into 6 visitors and assigned to 1 park ranger guide to take you through chimpanzee tracking. After, hit the jungles to look out for the chimpanzees our renowned closest relatives and this may take you about 2 to 4 hours which also covers 1 hour of magical encounter. A chimpanzee trek also comes with remarkable sights at varied primates including the black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, olive baboons, red colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, red tailed monkeys among others as well as several birds. Later, return to have lunch at your respective lodge and after, you have nature walk along Bigodi wetland which gets you the best sights at varied primates, birds including the great blue turaco and many mammal species. After, drive back to the lodge to have a rest, dinner and a night stay.

  • Day 11: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

    After an early morning breakfast at your respective safari lodge, embark on a road trip to Murchison Falls National Park which is set in northwestern Uganda about 8 hours’ drive. Drive via small towns, villages and breathtaking views at the escarpments. Arrive early enough to check in at the lodge for dinner and night stay.

  • Day 12: Game viewing and launch cruise in Murchison Falls National Park

    Have breakfast early in the morning and later, drive to the northern part of Murchison Falls National Park for morning game viewing experience. A game drive along this track will excite you with incredible sights at giraffes, buffaloes, leopards, lions, birds that make up a total of about 451 among others. This will last you about 2 to 4 hours and later, drive back to the lodge to have lunch. In the afternoon, you embark on a boat cruise which takes you about 2 hours to the bottom of Murchison Falls. This gets you a chance to see the Nile crocodile, hippos, water birds a mention but a few.

  • Day 13: Drive to Entebbe to visit Ngamba Island or Jinja

    After an early morning breakfast, you a road trip to Entebbe and along the way make a stopover at Ziwa rhino sanctuary for rhino tracking. Later, drive to Entebbe or Jinja. Accommodation options:

  • Day 14: Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary/Visit the source of the Nile at Jinja

    After breakfast, head off to Entebbe town for a boat ride to Ngamba Island about 23 kilometers which comes with incredible sights at varied birds. Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary is a home to the rescued chimpanzees and while here, you witness the care takers feed them and also explore their behaviors. Or take a drive to Jinja to take part in white water rafting along the source of the Nile. En-route, make a stopover at Mabira forest to spot out varied forest birds. 

  • Day 15: Return to Entebbe

    Enjoy your breakfast and later, drive back to Entebbe International Airport for your scheduled flight back home and this marks the end of your 15 days Uganda Rwanda grand tour.
