15 Days Uganda-Rwanda - Odyssey


The 15 Days Uganda-Rwanda safari is a special tour package designed for you to explore the iconic National Parks in Uganda and Rwanda. The main highlights of this long combined safari include gorilla trekking, chimpanzee tracking, game drives, launch cruise and cultural safari. The top destinations to be explored on this trip include Murchison Falls National Park, Volcanoes National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Kibale National Park and Bigodi Wetland.

The Detailed Itinerary - 15 Days

  • Day 1: Pick up at the Entebbe Airport

    On arrival at the Entebbe Airport, meet Mist Rwanda Safaris representative for a briefing and later, he will transfer you to your hotel. 


  • Day 2: Entebbe-Murchison Falls National Park (Masindi)

    Wake up early and have a delicious breakfast and after, meet the driver guide ready to set off to Murchison Falls N.P. This park sprawls in the Northwestern Uganda, and it is the country’s biggest of park with its land area stretching up to 3840 sq.km. 

    Along the way to Murchison Falls NP, branch off to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino trekking. After an incredible exploration about rhino behaviors and photography, head to the nearby lodge or hotel in Masindi for lunch. Continue to Kichumbanyobo gate to clear with the park officials and proceed to the lodges in the Northern section of the park. 


  • Day 3: Game drive plus a launch/boat cruise

    Enjoy an early morning breakfast at the lodge, after begin the 6:00 am guided game drive through the Northern wildlife track. In your comfortable 4x4 tourist car, you will be viewing diversity of game ranging from warthogs, giraffes, Jackson’s hartebeests, elephants, cape buffaloes, oribis, lions, to birds, etc. At 11:30 am, you will be back at the lodge to relax and enjoy lunch meal. Leave the lodge for the 2:00 pm launch cruise along the Victoria Nile and this lets you view the Nile crocodiles, hippos, aquatic birds and other animal species along the riverside.


  • Day 4: Birding in Budongo Forest

    After an early morning breakfast, you will transfer to Budongo Forest for a birding tour. A huge bird population lives in this natural forest, including chocolate-backed kingfishers, Puvel’s illadopsis, white-thigh hornbill, African emerald cuckoo, black-headed paradise flycatchers, blue throated roller, slender-billed greenbul, Cassin’s spinetail, crown eagle, dusky long-tailed cuckoo, western black-headed oriole, Jameson’s wattle eye, speckled tinker bird, yellow footed flycatchers, and more. 

    In the evening, you may have your next visit at Boomu community for a cultural experience. You will retire for the night in Budongo Eco Lodge or Boomu Bandas. 


  • Day 5: Transfer to Kibale Forest N. Park

    Start your trip to Kibale National Park via Hoima city to Fort Portal tourism city. At Kibale, there are more than 13 species of primates (chimpanzees, blue monkeys, olive baboons, red-tailed monkeys, red colobus monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, pottos).


  • Day 6: Chimpanzee tracking plus Nature walk in Bigodi Wetland

    Following a hot cup of tea/coffee, get briefed at Kanyanchu Tourism Centre. The briefing will be carried out by the park officials and you will be assigned to habituated chimpanzee communities to track. The trekking takes 2-4 hours which is inclusive of one hour of photography & exploring the chimps behaviors. 

    Kibale Forest chimp trek gets you exposed to more than chimps. The park contains other species of primates such as l’hoest monkeys, vervet monkeys, pottos, bush babies, red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, red colobus monkeys, olive baboons plus bird species. 


  • Day 7: Depart Kibale for Queen Elizabeth N.P

    Begin your road trip to Queen Elizabeth NP for a memorable game viewing experience. This park is found in Western Uganda, and supports a variety of game such as bush elephants, lions, cape buffaloes, antelopes and birds. The other park’s attractions include beautiful Crater Lakes, Kyambura Gorge, and natural rainforests like Maramagambo Forest.


  • Day 8: Safari game drive & boat trip

    Early in the morning, you will have breakfast and set out for a game drive via Kasenyi plains. This game track is most popular for its myriad of wildlife species often spotted in the open savanna grassland including buffaloes, elephants, lions, antelope families and birds. After the enjoyable 2-3 hours’ guided game drive, settle for lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, you will set out for the Kazinga channel launch cruise 2-3 hours. Kazinga channel is a natural channel linking Lake Edward & George, and offers excellent sightings of aquatic species like hippos, crocodiles and water birds. 


  • Day 9: Queen Elizabeth NP-Bwindi

    After breakfast, start a road trip to Bwindi National Park through Ishasha sector where you will have some time to search for the tree climbing lions. You will have lunch en-route at the Savanna Resort Hotel and connect to your gorilla safari lodge in Bwindi NP.

  • Day 10: Gorilla trekking plus Batwa community/cultural experience

    Enjoy an early breakfast and after, depart the lodge with a pack of lunch and enough drinking water. Report to Bwindi N. Park offices for a briefing on guidelines for gorilla trekking and once the gorilla families have been assigned to you, the actual trek begins at 8:00 am. This is expected to last for 2-6 hours which is inclusive of 1 hour of a close view of gorillas and taking photos. 


  • Day 11: Transfer to Volcanoes N.P (Ruhengeri) via Kabale

    Depart Bwindi Impenetrable National Park safari lodge for Volcanoes NP in Northwestern Rwanda. You will drive via Kabale-Katuna border, and then have a relaxed evening at the comfort of your accommodation. 


  • Day 12: Gorilla trekking plus Iby’Iwacu village tour

    After an early breakfast, report to Kinigi to meet Volcanoes National Park officials for briefing about gorilla trekking guidelines. This park alone is home to over 30% of the 1063 endangered mountain gorillas that still survive in the world today, featuring 12 habituated families. At 8:00 am start the actual trek to explore the family assigned to you and you will be 8 visitors in a group led by the park guide. Begin returning after one hour of a close encounter and taking pictures. 


  • Day 13: Dian Fossey hike & Lake Kivu trip

    Enjoy a hot cup of tea/coffee and after, you will depart your lodge for a briefing about Dian Fossey hike. You will be visiting the Dian Fossey tomb site, and a hike gives insight into Dian’s conservation legacy. After, you will be transferred to Lake Kivu for relaxation in the evening.


  • Day 14: Boat ride & relaxation

    After breakfast, set out for the morning boat ride on Lake Kivu and you will visit one of its scenic islands. Lake Kivu boat ride also allows you spot some interesting bird species and you will get back to enjoy lunch followed by a long evening relaxation at Lake Kivu Serena Hotel. 


  • Day 15: Lake Kivu to Kigali – city tour

    Leave Kivu for Kigali where you will engage in the city excursion. During the Kigali city tour, expect to visit Gisozi memorial center, plus many other historical sites. After, have lunch at the restaurant and next, you will be dropped off at the hotel/airport to depart back home.
