CHIMPS & PRIMATES SAFARI UGANDA

The 6 days Uganda chimpanzee and gorilla safari includes 5 nights and provided primate lovers a chance to see chimpanzees and mountain gorillas while in the wild. It takes you to Kibale Forest National Park for chimpanzee tracking and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for mountain gorillas. Kibale National Park is found in western Uganda and sits in an area of 795sq.kms. It prides itself as a home to 13 primates species with over chimpanzees, vervet monkeys, L’Hoest monkeys, red tailed monkeys, olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys as well as over 375 bird species.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is found in southwestern side of Uganda and expands up to 331 square kilometers. It offers refuge to 120 species of mammals including mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, 350 bird species, 220 butterflies and several floral species. 

You will also pay a visit to Queen Elizabeth National Park in western Uganda for game drives and launch trip. This national park sits in an area of about 1978sq.kms and it is known for the rare tree climbing lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, over 620 bird species, chimpanzees to mention but a few. Your trip will begin and end in Kampala/Entebbe.

CHIMPS & PRIMATES SAFARI UGANDA HIGHLIGHTS & DETAILED ITINERARY

  • Day 1: Leave Kampala for Kibale Forest National Park

    Leave Kampala for Kibale early in the morning after breakfast and briefing from your safari leader. Head out through Mubende-Fort Portal to Kibale Forest National Park 5 hours in a good 4x4 drive safari car. Have lunch in Fort Portal and proceed to Kibale National Park.

  • Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

    Trekking chimpanzees in Kibale Forest National Park is one most unforgettable experience. Gather at Kanyanchu Visitor Center for briefing on guidelines for chimpanzee tracking by park official at 7:00am and after you have been put in a group of 6 and allocated to park ranger guide, then feel free to begin your search for chimpanzees at 8:00am. The whole adventure can last for you 2-4 hours and includes an hour of magical encounter with chimpanzees and incredibly, you will also come across L’Hoest monkeys, vervet, baboons, red tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, bird to mention but a few. Thereafter, return to have lunch and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park about 3 hours’ drive.

  • Day 3: Game drive and boat cruise at Queen Elizabeth National Park

    Wake up to have breakfast and later, you have morning game drive via Kasenyi sector and this can last for you 3-4 hours. Expect to see the African bush elephants, warthogs, antelopes, lions, buffaloes, variety of terrestrial avifaunal species to mention but a few. Return to the lodge for lunch. At 2:00pm, catch up with a boat cruise along Kazinga Channel that covers 3-4 hours and lets you to see birds, basking crocodiles, hippos.

  • Day 4: Transfer from Queen to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

    Following breakfast, check out of the lodge and have a quick game drive via Ishasha Sector in the southern side of Queen Elizabeth National Park for you to see tree climbing lions and as well, don’t miss to see elephants, buffaloes, birds and many more. En-route, make a stopover at Savanna Resort Hotel for lunch.

  • Day 5: Gorilla trekking and Batwa cultural experience

    Gorilla trekking in Bwindi starts early at 7:00am with briefing on the safety measures that you have to observe when in search for mountain gorillas.  At 8:00am after you have known which gorilla group to trek together with a park ranger guide, you will set off to search for gorillas in the wild and this can cover about 2-6 hours. The afternoon will be spent exploring the unique cultures, traditions of the Batwa pygmies-the famous hunters and gatherers.

  • Day 6: Return to Kampala/Entebbe

    After breakfast and checking out of the lodge, drive back to Kampala/Entebbe. A stopover will be made in Mbarara for lunch and Uganda Equator crossing for photography.
